Tempering Expectations: Nintendo Switch

In just a few months ago, Nintendo revealed the Nintendo Switch in a Short trailer you can see here.

Shortly after that several theories were discussed especially about what the Switch can do. It was genuinely generating hype up to the January 12 presentation, but what we got instead were a series of amusing but not excellent minutes with the Switch and Nintendo being very Nintendo.

Among those announced that were very Nintendo were the motion controls, we had thought that it was a fad that Nintendo had learned to do away with especially after that first look, but more minutes into the Conference it was becoming clear our expectations, fueled by the rumor mill had gone awry and those eager to learn more about the Switch, it's internal hardware capabilities and launch games, were not going to be very pleased with Nintendo's attempt at unifying their mobile and console platforms.

We got several games that while, deserve a second look, could not dissuade a lot of angry fans to Nintendo's "bone-headed" policies and money-grabbing measures, this is further exemplified by how Nintendo now decides to charge for online access while limiting creating lobbies and voice chat via a smart phone, which means another additional cost that the consumer likely won't be able to understand due to the understanding of being able to use their consoles as a voice-chat capable device.

All in all it isn't looking good for Nintendo, we shall see whether Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be enough to bring in the amount of users they need to be able to convince 3rd party developers that the Switch is a profitable platform to use.

The loss of a Behemoth

What this game could've been in our minds.
2016 was a great year for gaming, but it also represented significant losses in the industry.

As we say hello to 2017, we now welcome the unpleasant loss of one of Microsoft's titles and Platinum's dream game.

Scalebound has been wiped from all Microsoft promotional materials and even on their website. like it didn't exist, a playable demo at E3 2016, and a presence at Gamescom just this year proves how dire this game industry has become.

Goodbye Scalebound, we will miss what you could've been in our minds.

In memory of it, let's play Microsoft's E3 2016 Presentation of Scalebound.
